Shermaal

🫓 Shirmal is a royal Mughlai sweet flatbread, traditionally prepared in Awadhi, Persian, and Mughal kitchens.It is soft, mildly sweet, saffron-flavored, and richer than naan.

🌍 Origin & History: Originated from Persian cuisine, Adopted and refined in Awadh (Lucknow) and Delhi.

The name comes from Persian “Sheer” = milk & “Mal” = rubbed / kneaded. Literally means bread kneaded with milk.

🧈 Key Ingredients : Maida, Milk (instead of water), Sugar, Desi Ghee, Saffron (Kesar)

👅 Taste & Texture : Soft, tender crumb, Mild sweetness (not dessert-sweet), Rich dairy aroma, Light yellow color from saffron

🔥 Cooking Method : Traditionally baked in a tandoor, Finished with ghee glaze, No heavy layering
